The WEN PL1337 is a 13-inch two-speed benchtop thickness planer that brings rough and worn boards down to a smooth, even finish. Its spiral cutterhead uses 26 staggered and rotatable high-speed steel blades to shear the wood cleanly across hard and soft species. A 15-amp motor turns the cutterhead at up to 10,000 rotations per minute.

Two-speed operation lets you match the feed rate to the job. The 26 feet-per-minute setting moves stock quickly for rough dimensioning at 833 cuts per inch, while the 16 feet-per-minute setting slows the feed to 1354 cuts per inch for a finer surface. The planer handles boards up to 13 inches wide and 6 inches thick, removing 0 to 1/8 inch per pass.

An onboard material removal gauge shows how much stock each pass takes off, and a depth stop lets you return to an exact thickness. Height-adjustable infeed and outfeed tables support the workpiece and help limit snipe. A combination 2-1/2-inch and 4-inch dust port, onboard wrench storage and predrilled base holes round out the design.

Spiral cutterhead with 26 blades

The spiral cutterhead carries 26 staggered high-speed steel blades that can be rotated to a fresh edge. The design takes small, overlapping cuts to lower tear-out and leave a smooth surface on hard and soft woods.

Two-speed feed

Choose the 26 feet-per-minute feed for quick dimensioning at 833 cuts per inch, or drop to 16 feet per minute and 1354 cuts per inch when you want a finer finish on the final passes.

15-amp motor

The motor spins the cutterhead at up to 10,000 rotations per minute, giving the power to flatten and thickness dense hardwoods without stalling.

13-inch planing capacity

Feed boards up to 13 inches wide and 6 inches thick, taking off 0 to 1/8 inch per pass with the depth adjustment knob for controlled thicknessing.

Snipe control and gauges

Height-adjustable infeed and outfeed tables plus workpiece return rollers steady the board and help limit snipe. An onboard material removal gauge and depth stop keep passes precise and repeatable.

Dust port and mounting

A combination 2-1/2-inch and 4-inch dust port clears chips and sawdust, onboard wrench storage keeps tools close, and predrilled base holes let you mount the planer to a bench or stand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What is the difference between the two speeds?

The 26 feet-per-minute speed feeds stock quickly at 833 cuts per inch for dimensioning, while the 16 feet-per-minute speed produces 1354 cuts per inch for a finer finish.

How wide and thick a board can the PL1337 plane?

It planes boards up to 13 inches wide and 6 inches thick, removing up to 1/8 inch of material per pass.

Can the spiral blades be reused?

Yes. The 26 high-speed steel blades are rotatable, so you can turn a blade to a fresh edge before replacing it.

What dust collection does it use?

It has a combination dust port that fits both 2-1/2-inch and 4-inch hoses to connect to shop vacuums or dust collectors.
